우리 자녀가 아래와 같은 성격을 갖추고 있다면 어떨까요?
이제부터 각 성격의 정의를 알아보고, 이것에 아이들에게 흡수되었을 때 어떤 변화와 차이가 생기는지 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

What if all children had all these qualities living inside of them?
Let's have a look at how defining these and other similar qualities can be - and what a difference it makes when they are an integral part of our children.

수용:

받아들이고 인정하는 능력
수용적인 아이: 자신감이 있고 소속감을 잘 느낍니다.
수용적이지 않은 아이: 혼자 있는 듯한 기분을 느끼고 슬픈 감정을 갖고 있습니다.

Acceptance: the quality of being accepted; approval
A child who feels accepted: gains confidence, sense of belonging
A child who does not feel accepted: feels alone, sad

태도:

행동 양식, 개인의 기질이나 의견 등이 반영된 생각이나 느낌
긍정적인 태도의 아이: 창의적이고 항상 준비되어 있으며 의욕이 있습니다.
부정적인 태도의 아이: 창의적이지 않고 부정적이며 외롭습니다.

Attitude: a manner of acting, feeling or thinking that reflects one's disposition, opinion, etc.
Child with positive attitude: open to ideas, ready, willing
Child with negative attitude: uncreative, negative, lonely

자신감:

확신에 찬 느낌, 특히 자신의 능력에 대한 확신
자신감에 찬 아이: 큰 일들을 해내며, 많은 사람들 속에 있어도 빛이 납니다.
자신감이 없는 아이: 도전을 두려워하고 에너지가 늘 고갈되어 있습니다.

Confidence: a feeling of assurance, especially of self-assurance; belief in one's own abilities
Child with confidence: accomplishes great things, stands out in a crowd
Child without confidence: meek, afraid to try

호기심:

알고 싶고, 배우고 싶은 마음
호기심이 많은 아이: 새로운 것을 배우고, 답을 찾아냅니다.
호기심이 없는 아이: 이해하려는 노력이 없고, 배움을 원하지 않습니다.

Curiosity: a desire to know or learn
Child with curiosity: learns something new, discovers answers
Child without curiosity: does not search for understanding, does not seek to learn

결정:

목적에 대한 확고함과 해결능력
결정권을 가진 아이: 목적 의식이 있고 그것을 성취로 이끕니다.
결정권이 없는 아이: 나약하고 추진을 어려워하며 희망을 품지 못합니다.

Determination: firmness of purpose; resolve
Child with determination: sense of purpose, drive to accomplish
Child without determination: weak, lack of drive, hopeless

희망:

기대하는 것이 달성되리라는 기대나 열정
희망이 있는 아이: 눈을 크게 뜨고, 좋은 일이 생길 것에 대해 준비되어 있으며 꿈을 꿉니다.
희망이 없는 아이: 낙담하고 좌절합니다.

Hope: a wish or desire accompanied by confident expectation of its fulfillment
Child with hope: eyes wide open, ready for good to happen, dreams
Child without hope: downhearted, discouraged

안전:

전한 상태; 다치고 상처받고 잃는 것에 대해서 자유로운 상태
안전하다고 느끼는 아이: 무엇이든 시도해볼 준비가 되어 있고, 무엇이든지 물어볼 수 있으며, 스스로에게 자유롭습니다.
안전하지 못하다고 느끼는 아이: 남의 시선을 의식하고 당황하며 마음이 닫혀있습니다.

Safety: the condition of being safe; freedom from hurt, injury, or loss
Child who feels safe: open to trying anything, asking anything, free to be himself
Child who does not feel safe: self-conscious, embarrassed, closed off

신뢰:

사람이나 사물의 진실성, 능력, 또는 성격에 대한 확신
신뢰하는 아이: 관계를 발전시켜 나가고, 인생에서의 힘찬 발걸음을 뻗습니다.
신뢰하지 않는 아이: 세상과 단절된 채, 상처받는 것을 두려워합니다.

Trust: firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing
Child who has trust: develops relationships, able to move forward in life
Child who does not have trust: shuts out the world, afraid to get hurt, vulnerable

감탄:

장엄하고 경이로우며 감탄할 만한 것들을 보고 감정이 격앙되는 것
감탄할 줄 아는 아이: 새로운 것을 배우고 발견하는 것을 좋아하고, 삶을 즐깁니다.
감탄할 줄 모르는 아이: 의욕이 부족하고 배움에 대한 흥미도가 낮습니다.

Wonder: the emotion aroused by something awe-inspiring, astounding, or marvelous
Child with wonder: desire to learn and discover, excited about life
Child without wonder: lack of ambition, limited interest in learning
